The Red-naped Ibis (Pseudibis papillosa) is a large bird occurring in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. It can be found in grasslands, on fields, at lakes or marshes, and even at rubbish dumps. The diurnal birds commonly live in small groups and feed on small vertebrates, insects, worms, and many other invertebrates. I had the luck to photograph the species during a recent trip to Kachchh in western India during January 2015. Incidentally, our car broke down and while the driver repaired it, I saw a group of large black birds descend near the road. Since I could not help with the repairs I got hold of my camera and took some fast shots. Fifteen minutes later we were back on the road…
