Temple of Khnum in Esna

Following our visit to the majestic temple of Edfu, we visited the lesser known Temple of Khnum in Esna.

The Temple of Khnum in Esna was built in the 2nd century BC, but unfortunately only its entrance hall remains. Due to the spectacular columns and fantastic carvings as well as paintings on the walls and ceiling, this temple is still very much worth a visit! In addition, the Emari Minaret can be visited next to the temple, which was built in 1082 AD and is one of the oldest minarets in Egypt.

We really loved the peaceful atmosphere in the temple with less visitors than at the other sights.
