After crossing the Corinth Canal, the bus took me along the coast to the ancient ruins of Epidaurus.

Epidaurus was a small town in ancient Greece famous for its so-called Sanctuary of Asclepius – the most renowned healing centre of the Classical world. People came here from afar to seek a cure for their ailments. Due to this constant stream of customers, the village gained considerable riches and impressive buildings were constructed. Today, the highlight of Epidaurus is its fantastic theatre dating back to the 4th century BC and admired for its beauty, symmetry, and exceptional acoustics.

After leaving Epidaurus behind, the bus stopped shortly at the seaport town Nafplio before turning north to the ruins of Mycenae.
