Ahmedabad, Gujarat:

Sarkhej Roza
From Mumbai, I traveled to Ahmedabad for field work.

Ahmedabad is the capital of Gujarat and India’s fifth-largest city. It’s a lively place with a few interesting sights, including a number of beautiful ancient tombs and mosques. Particularly nice are the intricately carved minarets of the Sidi Bashir Mosque and the fantastic latticework windows of the otherwise plain Sidi Saiyyed Mosque. Ahmedabad is also famous for the Sabarmati Ashram from where Mahatma Gandhi started his Salt March in 1930. Nevertheless, I did not visit the ashram because I was busy with work in the countryside of Kachchh in westernmost Gujarat.
