During my stay in Buenos Aires, I spent one morning bird watching in the Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur.

The Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur is situated in Puerto Madero in eastern Buenos Aires. The nature reserve protects 3.5 km² of wetlands along the riverbanks of the Rio de la Plata. A well-kept network of paths allows visitors to experience the different habitats teeming with birds. During my time, I saw more than 40 species (all new to me!), but I am sure that the trained eye will be able to discover a lot more! In addition to birds, one can also observe turtles and lizards as well as enjoy the scenery at the riverfront.

I had a long walk through the nature reserve, but it is also possible to travel there on bicycle. An overnight bus finally took me from Buenos Aires all the way to the other side of the country to Zapala at the foot of the mighty Andes.
