The Mealy Parrot (Amazona farinosa) is a large bird occurring in Central and South America (southern Mexico to northern Bolivia and Brazil). Within this range, the birds favor humid to semi-humid forests and plantations. In contrast to many other parrots, they are rarely seen in large flocks, but instead live in monogamous pairs. The birds feed on fruits, flowers, seeds, berries, and nuts. I have photographed this bird during a visit to Barro Colorado Island in central Panama (March 2014).
