Straight-billed Woodcreeper

The Straight-billed Woodcreeper (Dendroplex picus) is a species native to Central and Southern America (Panama to Brazil). The birds reach lengths of around 20 cm and live in tropical forests, mangroves, and other woodlands. True to their name, they are very good climbers searching for their prey which includes insects, spiders, and centipedes among others. I have spotted this species in mangroves near the city of ColĂłn in central Panama (March 2014).
